beabadoobee Tour

Beatrice Laus, known professionally as Beabadoobee, was born in Iloilo City in the Philippines on 3 June 2000. She later moved to London with her parents at the age of 3. She grew up in West London where she became interested in music by listening to Pinoy music, pop, and rock music from the 1980s. In her teen years, she also listened to Indie rock including Karen O, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Alex G.

She was later expelled from Sacred Heart High School before completing her thirteenth year at Hammersmith Academy. After this, she spent seven years learning to play the violin before getting a second hand guitar at the age of 17.  She taught herself how to play by following YouTube tutorials and was inspired to make music.

2017–2019

Beabadoobee first song was “Coffee” which was released alongside a cover of Karen O’s “The Moon Song” in September 2017. “Coffee” quickly gained recognition and over 300,000 views on YouTube as well as the attention of Dirty Hit Records. She was signed on to the label in April 2018.

After joining Dirty Hit Records, she released her debut EP, Lice, in March 2018 and her second EP, Patched Up in December that same year. These EPs gained her considerable recognition, including being included alongside Billie Eilish on NME’s annual list of “essential new artists” the “NME 100”. She then released her third EP, Loveworm and then an acoustic version, Loveworm (Bedroom Sessions).

This led to September 2019, when Beabadoobee embarked on her first tour. This tour was in support of Clairo on he rImmunity Tour and preceded her fourth EP, Space Cadet.

Beabadoobee Today

Beabadoobee continues making songs as she races up the charts and wins the hearts of new fans at every live show. Back in 2018, she had expressed the desire to make film soundtracks as they were a major inspiration for her music. She also cited Elliott Smith, Mac DeMarco, the Moldy Peaches, Pavement, Mazzy Star, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Daniel Johnston as musical influences.

She also wants to be an inspiration for young musicians who may be interested in a musical career. In an interview she said that…”Today, people start off making beats on a laptop, but hopefully I encourage young people to pick up the guitar and rock out! YouTube tutorials are a great way to develop your own style, and go at your own pace.”
